No One at all used my favorite way of solving 5-32 which is using the 
arithmetic geometric mean value inequality substituting in 1/xi instead of 
xi and then just a little algebra gives the maximum value. Maybe the class 
would find that method of solving 5-32 interesting if you showed it to them. 
That is also why 5-32 is put directly after 5-31 in the textbook.
