Closed geodesics on flat surfaces

The subject of the talk is a special class of flat surfaces, translation surfaces. I will discuss properties of closed geodesics on such surfaces. There are two kinds of properties: those enjoyed by an arbitrary translation surface and properties of generic surfaces (in a suitable moduli space). Some open problems and conjectures will be formulated.
