4:00 pm Monday, November 5, 2012 Stulken Topology Seminar: Left-orderability of groups and three-manifold topologyby Tye Lidman (U. Texas Austin) in HB 427- We consider the seemingly arbitrary question of when a three-manifold group can be given a left-invariant order. We will show that left-orderability is in fact related to other topological features, especially Heegaard Floer homology groups. Intuition from this correspondence will be used to study both of these structures.
