4:00 pm Thursday, March 8, 2012 Colloquium: Invariants of singularities in zero and positive characteristicby
Mircea Mustata (University of Michigan) in HB 227- Given a polynomial P with complex coefficients, a well-known invariant of the singularities of P is defined by looking at which negative powers of P are locally integrable. When P has integer coefficients, one can also define some algebraic invariants by working modulo various primes, and using the Frobenius morphism. In the talk I will describe the two types and invariants, and discuss some known and conjectural relations between them.
