4:00 pm Wednesday, September 24, 2008 Geometry-Analysis Seminar: Schrödinger Operators Defined by Interval Exchange Transformationsby Jon Chaika (Rice University) in HB 227- This talk will describe how the discontinuities of an Interval Exchange Transformation (IET) can be exploited to show that a Schrödinger operator given by Hu(n)=u(n+1)+u(n-1)+f(T^n(x))u(n) often has empty a.c. spectrum when T is a (non-rotation) IET and f is continuous. This is based on joint work with David Damanik and Helge Krueger.
