Complex abelian varieties are higher-dimensional analogs of elliptic curves (aka Riemann surfaces of genus 1). We will discuss the geometry of individual abelian varieties and of their moduli spaces, including compactifications, homology ring, intersection numbers, subvarieties, and other topics.
